Mrs. Duffields Art Class Webpage
Welcome to BCA's Art Webpage!
What a wonderful first week of art! The students were patient with learning all of our proceedures for making the art room a safe place where we act respectfully and responsibly. They are all itching to do some art. Many of our first projects have to do with our identities and our names.
Kindergartners will be exploring shapes and color. We will be making bear's heads out of circle shapes.
First grade will be making construction paper self portraits. They will look in mirrors to see what colors and shapes God used in making them. They will also brush off their skills with scissors and glue.
Second grade is making large decorative versions of their names. It is interesting to hear what they say about how they got their names. One child told me that his parents didn't name him, God did. I suppose that is really right!
Third grade is making designs using their hand shape as the main element and adding what they can do with their hands.
Fourth grade is using the shapes of the letters that make up their initials to create a composite image. This is very challenging and one of my favorite projects each year. Look for these in the hallway by the end of the month.
Fifth grade is creating a sculpture called "My Many Sides". Since I don't have display space for such art I will be uploading pictures of these on the web gallery.
Sixth grade is learning about complementary color schemes and using them to create a name sign. They impressed me with what they remembered about the color wheel from previous years.
Seventh grade is participating in constructing our Fruit of the Spirit worship banners and creating an Illuminated Letter of one of their initials.
Eighth graders are the design team for our Fruit of the Spirit worship banners. They will be creating the patterns and selecting the fabrics as well as creating them. |
