Hello, BCA! I am blessed to be starting my fourth year at this school. I feel it has been a privilige getting to know the families thus far and look forward to meeting many more to come. Teaching has been a part of my life in various ways throughout my life. My previous career was in dance. I was both an instructor and performer. I loved being in my studio and reaching the children through movement and expression. I cherished the relationships built with the parents throughout the years. Upon closing my studio it did not take long to realize that dance was a gift, but teaching (and learning from) children was my passion. That is how I came to be an education teacher, earning my Masters in Elementary Education and Masters of Teaching from Grand Canyon University.
My husband, Michael, and I are celebrating 16 years of marriage. We have two ornery children, Max 12 and Jane 6. We enjoy watching America's Got Talent and Malcolm in the Middle reruns as a family. The kiddos enjoy swimming and playing MineCraft. Max's golden retriever is named Lady and Jane's Yorkie-poo is named Marvin.
My belief in the Lord Jesus is a continually developing relationship. It is truly a blessing to know that whatever life brings me, eventually, I can pinpoint the Hand of God and the direction He chose for my path. Jesus loved and showed that love to the children who surrounded Him. It is my prayer that I can share that kind of unconditional love with those of my new First Grade Family. We are all children of God. I pray you feel my support and I am honored to be joining your child's team. Blessings on this new year!
Years at BCA: This is Mrs. Smith's 6th year at BCA.
Qualifications: Bachelors of Science in Education from Ohio University.
Philosophy of Education: Children learn best through song, dance, and hands on experience.. I believe learning should be fun, yet effective, meaningful, and at their ability level.
Christian Testimony: Christ has always been a part of my life, both as my savior and my friend. I grew up in Christian home where I learned about the Bible, the love of the Lord and how powerful the two combined were. I'm now working in a school that is dedicated to educating the mind, body and soul. What a great way for me to practice my faith and share the love of the Lord!
I'm currently living in Pickerington with my husband Brad and 2 children, Macey (5 1/2 ) and Jansen (2 1/2). We attend Shalom United Methodist Church in Carroll. We have a passion for traveling and exploring tourist attractions in towns we travel to. We love family time together! Whether it's cooking at home or soaking our toes in the sand, as long as we are together we'll have a blast.
I love being around children and watching them learn. The most amazing reward as a teacher is to see a child discovering his/her own talent and knowledge.

Philosophy of Christian Education: I believe that each and every child in our classroom is a miraculous gift from God. It is our mission to instill Biblical teachings in all areas of the curriculum. I believe we must reach each child and inspire him/her to maximize their potential as Jesus has taught us to do while we are His stewards on earth.

After 6 years of subbing, I joined Brice Christian Academy as a 4th grade teacher. I am starting my 8th year here at Brice.
Christian Testimony: I was born into a loving home with parents who took me to church each Sunday. I was raised in the Methodist Church. Life got tough in my early 20's and I found myself seeking the Lord for comfort through my trials. As life continued on I discovered that the commintment I made to Christ when I was young was not enough. Being a Christian was more of a process then I had realized. So, over the years, I have taken steps to grow my faith. My goal is to be less like me and more like Jesus. The unthinkable happened in our family 4 years ago. Our eldest son, Ben, passed. He was only 22. It was a hard time in our life. But, an amazing thing happened. My husband and I held on tight to the Lord. And the Lord gave us PEACE. And my husband and myself grew even closer together. And our resolve to serve the Lord became stronger. I know that my son is in heaven, and he is safe with the Lord. And we look for the day when we will once again be united with him in heaven. For know, serving the Lord, however he calls, is our life goal.

I began teaching at BCA in 2011.
I believe that education should be valued, and that every child should be given a chance to improve themselves through learning. My family's motto has always been "If it is to be, it is up to me!" What a child/family does with this educational opportunity is up to them, but I will do my best to instill a love of learning into my students.
I have attended church all my life. I received the Holy Ghost when I was six in a barn that had been renovated for Children's Church. When I was eight, I decided I wanted to be baptized. Life is not easy, but God has always been there with me and for me even when I have gone to different countries on mission trips. I now attend Turnpoint Apostolic Church in Groveport, Ohio.

Philosophy of Christian Education:Our goal as christian educators should be to support
the children in their walk with Christ. We should also be aware of children in their special talents and needs and accept them accordingly. I see christian educators many times go the extra mile to help a child or to support a parent in times of trouble or for a shoulder to cry on. I believe when these things are accomplished the children will take what they have been a part of and take it into the world.
